A paradise for winter sports enthusiasts
Innsbruck offers an impressive selection of ski areas that appeal to beginners and professionals alike. With areas such as the Stubaital, Axamer Lizum and the Nordkette, you have direct access to 13 ski areas and over 269 kilometres of pistes. Where else but here can you enjoy the benefits of a lively town after a day on the piste?
Nordkette
The Nordkette can be reached directly from the city centre in just 20 minutes with the Hungerburgbahn. If you are staying in our Riedz, S14 or Absteige houses, you can also take the J bus to the cable car. It stops just a few steps from the front door!
It offers challenging pistes and a spectacular view over Innsbruck. The steep Karrinne is a challenge for advanced skiers.
Patscherkofel
The Patscherkofel ski area, also just 20 minutes from the city centre, offers gentle slopes, especially for families and beginners. It is ideal for relaxed days of skiing and has a modern gondola lift.
The Patscherkofel can also be reached by bus line J! You can get on right outside the front door.
Axamer Lizum
The Axamer Lizum, around 30 minutes away by car or ski bus, is a highlight for sporty skiers. It has already hosted the Winter Olympics and the wide pistes are ideal for fast descents.
Stubaier Gletscher
In the Stubai Valley, around 45 minutes from Innsbruck, lies the Stubai Glacier, Austria’s largest glacier ski area. Snow is guaranteed here until spring and there is a varied offer for every level of skier.
The ski buses in Innsbruck and the surrounding area are well organised and take winter sports enthusiasts from the city centre to all ski resorts free of charge and in comfort. This means you can leave your car at home and enjoy a relaxed journey. A SKI PLUS CITY PASS is also worthwhile for motivated winter sports enthusiasts (note that the Nordkette is not included!).
