Arrival & Check-in

What’s the best way to get to you from Innsbruck Central Station or the airport?

The best way to get here from Innsbruck Central Station is to take the K bus. It stops right outside the station and goes to Höttinger Kirchplatz, just a minute’s walk from where we are. If you’ve just missed the K, you can also walk a few minutes further to Museumstraße (Landesmuseum stop) and catch the J bus there (towards Nordkette). This also goes to Höttinger Kirchplatz. If you’re travelling light, you could also walk to the Kabine instead, which will give you a chance to get to know Innsbruck city centre a little.

Bus F stops in front of the airport building. You can either get off at the Fürstenweg stop and continue on foot from there (approx. 15 minutes, recommended only if you’re travelling light), or travel to the Klinik/Universität stop, walk to the Marktplatz stop and change there to the J or K line (1 stop to Höttinger Kirchplatz).

Facilities

Does the Kabine have accessible* flats?

Yes, the Kabine has a total of 3 accessible* units in the main building. There is 1 double room on the ground floor and 1 apartment each on the 1st and 2nd floors, which you can reach by lift. There is also an accessible* toilet on the ground floor, which is accessible from the communal areas.

The apartments have been designed to be as accessible as possible and to be easily used by people in all circumstances – including those with reduced mobility. In the kitchen, a worktop lift allows all guests – whether tall, short or in a wheelchair – to cook in comfort. The spacious bathroom offers freedom of movement and is equipped with sturdy grab rails for added safety.

Accessible* = Accessible with some limitations. Please feel free to contact us in advance if you have any specific requirements!

How fast and reliable is the Wi-Fi in the Kabine?

As our buildings are of varying ages, they also have different Wi-Fi setups.
At Haus Kabine, internet speeds can reach up to 1000 Mbit/s. The Riedz house (LAN also available) reaches up to 700 Mbit/s. Innstraße 33 (LAN also available) reaches 100–250 Mbit/s, and in the Absteige you can expect 50–100 Mbit/s.

These figures may, of course, vary depending on network load and the device being used.

What facilities does the kitchen have? Can I cook for myself entirely?

In the Kabine, you can cater for yourself entirely (the only exception being the Schnappsidee room in the Absteige building). All kitchens are fully equipped so that you can cook for yourself. If you prefer a touch more luxury and don’t want to do without an egg boiler, toaster or fully automatic coffee machine, your best bet is to stay at Haus Riedz.

What sets the Kabine apart from a traditional hotel in Innsbruck?

Here, you’ll stay just like the locals do: independently, away from the typical tourist areas, yet incredibly centrally located. At the Kabine, you can enjoy your own private space, relax in the garden, find a quiet spot to work, and set off on a hike straight from the front door when the mountains call. What’s more, Innsbruck’s best bus route, the J, stops right outside the front door and connects Innsbruck’s two local mountains, the Nordkette and the Patscherkofel. You’ll also find plenty of cosy corners where you can chat with other guests or locals. If you look closely, you’ll also spot the odd piece of artwork by local artists.

Location

How far is Die Kabine from the Old Town and the Nordkettenbahn?

Everything is within walking distance from the chalet. The Old Town, the centre of Innsbruck with its Golden Roof, is just a 7-minute walk away. Here, you can also catch the Hungerburgbahn cable car or ski and hiking buses to all sorts of places across Tyrol.

Bus J stops right outside our front door, connecting the Nordkette and the Patscherkofel. So you can go hiking, cycling or skiing on Innsbruck’s local mountains without needing a car. If you’re fit, you can even walk through the forest to the Hungerburg in 45 minutes.

Within 10 to 15 minutes from the Kabine, you can also reach the Innsbruck Messe, Innsbruck University Hospital and several university campuses.

Surroundings & Tips

Do you have any insider tips for bars, cafés and restaurants in the area?

Of course: Widmann’s Bakery (opposite) offers incredibly affordable warm ciabatta with Italian antipasti if you’re looking for a quick snack. You can get some excellent cakes at Café Großgasteiger. If you love Austrian cuisine and want to soak up a bit of a traditional pub atmosphere, it’s best to pop over to the Burenwirt. It’s just a 5-minute walk from us on Dorfgasse. There’s also a brilliant Italian restaurant just a few minutes away: Due Sicilie on Höttinger Gasse.

Das Brett on Mariahilfstraße is the perfect spot for board game enthusiasts among you, serving up delicious snacks and drinks alongside the games.

If you fancy falafels, pide and kebabs, do pop into MISs Döner on Innstraße. You can also enjoy a decadent breakfast on Innstraße at the small but lovely haepinest.

You’ll find lots more tips here – don’t forget to click on the map at the very bottom, as there are links to a few more places there too.

Sustainability

How sustainable is my stay with you?

We place great importance on sustainability. We wash our own laundry using rainwater and, where possible, let some of it dry in the sun.

At our Riedz house, the toilets are also flushed with rainwater. Hot water is heated and stored using a solar system.

Our main house, the cabin, which we are currently undergoing a complete renovation (as of May 2026), will be heated by a geothermal heat pump and supplied with electricity via the solar system on the roof; any surplus electricity will also feed into our in-house electric charging station. All walls and ceilings are plastered with clay, ensuring a pleasant indoor climate. Where possible, we have upcycled and revitalised old furniture with the help of local artists (Tanacuna, Eekhoorn).

We also pay close attention to proper waste separation in the cabin and provide a designated waste separation system in all our properties.

Workation

Why is the Kabine the ideal place to stay for a workation in Innsbruck?

A workation with us is such a great option because you can live just like the locals. Whether you’re staying in the Kokon – a cosy little cocoon – or the big Nest, you can cook for yourself and spread your things out on your own table at the Kabine. All our houses have Wi-Fi, so you can also find a comfortable or inspiring spot to work outside your temporary four walls. After all, you’ll find plenty of space for yourself and your laptop in our communal areas and garden. You might even strike up a conversation or two with other interesting people here.

The Kabine is so centrally located that you can easily reach both the forest and the town centre on foot. Public transport also stops right outside the front door.

Pets

Are pets allowed in the Kabine?

Pets are not allowed in the Kabine.
